Waking up

The election of 2016 threw me for a loop (as it did many people). I stepped away from things that bring me joy — because how can we have joy in the midst of such misogyny, sexism, racism, xenophobia, homophobia? Depravity. Between November 2016 and January 2018, I became part of the resistance, but I have lost 67 pounds. I have regained seven. For the first time in my life, I am taking anti-anxiety meds along with high blood pressure meds.

I spent most of December refocusing on what’s important to me. I made lists. pages and pages of lists: things I will do, things I will change, things I will grow.  I came to the conclusion that living life to its fullest is the best sort of resistance and revenge. And so here I am, doing things that bring me joy!

I have started another blog which will focus on clothing and style, fashion basics and essentials. Later, I will expand it to redecorating, you can read my first post here. These are the other things that bring me joy. Who Needs Fiction and Cultural Salad will get reboots this week as well.
